Expanding Cycletta Series Aims to Inspire Thousands More Women to Cycle in 2012, with new event at St Michael's Mount, Cornwall.

Cycletta

In 2011 Participate Sport Ltd launched the women only Cycletta cycling series, inspiring nearly 2,000 women of all abilities to get on their bikes and ride 40km alongside Olympic and World Track Champion Victoria Pendleton.

As we begin the Olympic year, Participate are set to build on this success by expanding the series even further. 2012 will see seven Cycletta events being held across England, one of which will be based on Plumpton Racecourse and the surrounding area, one of which will be in the stunning location of St Michael's Mount as part of the Festival of Sport.

St Michaels Mount joins the seven venues announced today and all are sure to provide an inspiring backdrop to each day of fitness and fun on bikes.

The Cycletta will be held on the 15th September as part of the weekend long Festival of Sport. The other dates and venues are as follows:

Bedfordshire - Woburn Abbey - 13th May
Wiltshire - Lydiard Park - 24th June
Warwickshire - Ragley Hall - July (exact date TBC) Brighton - Plumpton Racecourse - 30th September Cheshire - Tatton Park - 7th October New Forest - Beaulieu Palace - 14th October

Each Cycletta ride will feature all the unique touches that made the 2011 events so popular. Riders will face a 40km safely managed route on quiet country roads, treat stops will be based along the route, the very popular pamper zone will be based at the finish in the Cycletta Village and all riders will be able to tap into pre-event training advice, cycle fashion wear, and a range of motivational information to make the buildup to Cycletta fun and enjoyable.

Cycletta Ambassador Victoria Pendleton (MBE) said: "Being able to cycle with so many girls on bikes in Cycletta last year was one of my highlights of 2011. 2012 should be a special year and I really hope that 1,000s more women will join me on a bike this year. Cycletta is the perfect event to get on two wheels with the girls and have some fun! I hope to see you out there."

Nick Rusling, Chief Executive of Participate Sport and Cycletta said: "We are so excited by the healthy growth of the Cycletta series. The Cycletta events are the most inspiring I have delivered as 1,000's of women, many of whom are nervous cyclists, are starting to see the joy and fun that cycling can offer."

About Cycletta
Cycletta is a unique series of women-only, mass-participation cycle events on safely managed roads, aimed at inspiring female cyclists. The events are over 40km providing a sufficient fitness challenge, while remaining achievable and accessible (designed to ensure participants will need to consider their general fitness, training, apparel and equipment prior to competing).

Supported by Olympic Gold Medallist Victoria Pendleton, these events align with Victoria's commitment to inspiring British women, to take up cycling as a meaningful fitness and lifestyle pursuit, whilst also providing current cyclists with an enjoyable and friendly environment to pursue their passion.
